Teeing up a terrific user experience for a unique event and a worthy cause.

Summary

The American Century Championship is a made-for-TV event owned and broadcast by NBC Sports. This premier celebrity golf tournament – which features such players as Justin Timberlake, Steph Curry, Tony Romo and many more – also raises funds for local and national charities.

Challenge

While serving the needs of the at-home viewer and the in-person spectator were both primary concerns, a third dimension was introduced when it came to the management of schedules, itineraries, and more for American Century Investments' VIP guests. We were challenged to create a communications channel that could accomplish all of these in a seamless and straightforward manner.

By leveraging the power of our own proprietary, app-based event management platform, we were able to work with an established and proven mobile solution as our foundation. 

Live data and Event management

We then layered on top of that live score feeds and on-course player positions from the tournament's score data partner as well as a custom-developed integration with Cvent, the software solution chosen to manage schedules and events for VIP attendees.

Outcome

When it comes to live events, viewers want to be drawn into the action even in the comfort of their own homes via the second screen of mobile. Meanwhile, live spectators crave every behind-the-scenes glimpse they can get of the action. For the American Century Championship, one of the most unique events in golf, we were tasked to fulfill both of those needs in a singular mobile experience.
